How Is a Tooth Extraction Performed?
A comfortable, safe process step by step, from examination to healing.
Exam & X-Ray
Your tooth is assessed with a clinical examination and digital X-ray. We decide whether extraction is needed and present alternative treatments if any exist.
Step 1Local Anaesthesia
Modern local anaesthesia is applied to the area before the procedure. Within a few minutes the area is completely numb and you feel no pain.
Step 2The Extraction
The tooth is removed with minimal trauma using special surgical instruments. The procedure averages 10–20 minutes. You feel only pressure.
Step 3Healing Follow-up
Aftercare instructions are provided. The first 24 hours are critical; tissue begins healing in 2–3 days, full healing takes 7–10 days.

Common Questions About Tooth Extraction
The questions asked most often before treatment.
No. Thanks to modern local anaesthesia applied before the procedure, you feel no pain — only mild pressure. The fine needles used for the anaesthesia also keep needle discomfort minimal. There may be mild sensitivity afterwards, easily managed with painkillers.
A simple tooth extraction takes an average of 10–20 minutes. Complex cases requiring surgery can take up to 30–45 minutes. Including the anaesthesia time, your total time in the clinic is roughly 45–60 minutes.
Bite firmly on the gauze for the first 30 minutes. Avoid rinsing, spitting and hot drinks for the first 24 hours. Don't smoke or drink alcohol on the first day. Prefer soft, lukewarm foods. Avoid the extraction area when brushing. Detailed written aftercare instructions are given to you afterwards.
Full gum healing takes 7–10 days. Filling in of the bone in the socket can take 2–3 months. Mild swelling and sensitivity are normal for the first 2–3 days. Most patients can return to daily life within 24 hours of the extraction.
Yes — it's the most commonly preferred method. Once healing is complete after extraction (2–3 months), an implant can be placed. In some suitable cases an implant can be placed in the same session as the extraction (immediate implant). This decision is made during pre-extraction planning.
Yes. In suitable cases, more than one tooth can be extracted in the same session — especially adjacent teeth or teeth in the same jaw area. This decision is made based on the patient's general health, the difficulty of the extraction and their healing capacity.
It is preferable to do it outside pregnancy where possible. However, in emergencies (severe pain, infection) it can be done safely in the 2nd trimester (months 4–6). Anaesthesia is selected with special care in pregnant patients. Always tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
The price of an extraction varies by the condition of the tooth (simple extraction / surgical extraction / impacted tooth), its location and complexity. A tailored quote is given after examination. No hidden fees — everything is stated in writing in advance.
